Murray

Water Activities Abound in Murray County.
Swimming
Turner Falls Park is
home to a 77 ft. waterfall with a natural swimming area, and
the all-time favorite Blue Hole featuring a slide and diving
boards.
Mother
Nature has created shallow swimming areas with water naturally flowing
over rocks and terraces.
Lake of the Arbuckles If you enjoy swimming in the lake,
this is the place for you with over 2,300 acres of open water;
or swim closer inland off the
36 miles of shoreline.
Chickasaw National Recreation Area From the wader to the
experienced swimmer, Little Niagara Waterfall, Travertine
Creek and Rock Creek all located in the Chickasaw National
Recreation Area offer a variety
of water
fun.

Boating
Canoeing. You can canoe either on the Washita River (bring
your own canoe or rent one locally and take a scenic river
trip) or on Veteran’s Lake
where the water is quiet and peaceful or on the Lake of the Arbuckles.
Power boating, motor boating or sailing. Lake of the Arbuckles
is a great place to go boating. Launch boats from designated
boat ramps which offer boating docks to load and unload passengers.
Boat operators must comply with federal and state laws. Boating
permits are required for Lake of the Arbuckles. Fee machines
are at Buckhorn, The Point, and Guy Sandy launches.
Fishing
Turner Falls Park offers trout fishing from November through
March.
Lake of the Arbuckles is known for catfish, crappie, sunfish,
largemouth bass, white bass, and bluegill. There are several
boat ramps and camping facilities.
Veterans Lake features
a wheelchair-accessible fishing dock, boat ramp and picnic
area.
Water Skiing or Tubing -
Lake of the Arbuckles is the perfect body of water for smooth
water skiing, tubing and wake boarding.
Nature Adventures
The area offers everything from camping

A trip to Murray County would not be complete
without a visit to Arbuckle Wilderness in Davis, Oklahoma.
Arbuckle Wilderness is a scenic drive through park filled
with exotic animals from all over the world that will come
right
up to your car and eat from your hand. After you drive through,
you can park and enjoy the walk through area that offers
other animals as well as go-karts, paddle boats, camel rides,
bumper
cars and much more.

Sulphur Hills Golf Course is a 9-hole double tee
golf course with a par of 72. Yearly memberships and golf
cart rentals are available.
Gaming Center
Want to try your hand at Lady Luck while in
Murray County? Then check out Treasure Valley Gaming
Center.
It is a Native American Casino in Davis, Oklahoma and is open
daily 9 a.m. – 6 a.m. The casino is about 20,000 square
feet and offers electronic games as well as table games.
Bluegrass Music Festival

don’t miss a trip to Bluegrass Park.
Museums
Walk into one of the three museums in Murray County and
you will feel as though you have stepped back in time. A wealth
of information on local history is waiting at the
Arbuckle Historical Museum in Davis and in Sulphur. Also, the
Goddard youth museum is an excellent place for your youth group
to explore and learn of the wonders of Southern Oklahoma.
Murray
County is also home to the unique National
Museum of Horseshoeing Tools located 8 miles north of Sulphur.
Whether you're a Farrier, a horseman, or just interested in
learning
about one of the horse world's oldest trades, a visit to this
museum gives an entertaining look at the tools, life and products
in the horse-shoer’s world.

Scenic Driving
The Arbuckle Mountains provide a scenic driving
experience for those wanting to relax with a calm, afternoon
drive. Before the Rockies and Sierras were formed the Arbuckle
Mountains were in existence. Over 200 million years old, they
are some of the oldest mountains in America. Scientists say
they were probably over 20,000 feet tall at one time. Route
77 winds through the Arbuckles and follows the curve of the
mountains. As you drive, you will pass rocky, meadowland of
evergreens and prairie grass. Don’t miss the bird’s
eye view of the 77-foot waterfall at the Turner
Falls Overlook.
Youth Camps
With all the beauty and outdoor activities this
area has to offer it is no wonder that churches and other
organizations have made Murray County the place for their summer
camps.
Roller Skating
Perhaps you’ve experience a day in the
great outdoors and you and the kids are ready for some indoor
entertainment. Then you will want to visit Skateworld in Sulphur
(580-622-2992) This roller rink with 70x140' skating floor
is very popular with the youth of the community that enjoy
the music and exercise. Facilities include a party room available
for birthday and other celebrations and a snack bar. Open Thursday
7-9 pm, Friday-Saturday nights 7-11 pm, Saturday-Sunday afternoons
2-4 pm.
Flea Market
Who loves to find a bargain? Everyone- that’s
why people flock to the Bivens Dog Trade and Flea Market on
Highway 177 North in Sulphur every Sunday 5:30 a.m. – 11:00
p.m. (580-622-2055). This popular flea market began in the
early 40's when hunters and dog breeders gathered to trade
dogs. Now, hundreds of people pour into the grounds every Sunday
(weather permitting) to find great deals on unique items. Get
there early (sunrise) to find the best deals.

After roughing it in the great outdoors,
